IF successful, Fincantieri's proven and established multiple-ship construction methodology will be used to build the boats at Forgacs in Newcastle.
The boats will be built undercover to a schedule based on Fincantieris build schedule for similar boats to reduce or mitigate cost, time and performance risks. Fincantieri is Europe's second largest shipbuilder.
With the combined project management skills and established superior trade skills in the Hunter, Forgacs says it will deliver patrol boats for this capability well before the period allowed by Defence.
